Athenian Agora: Metro, Stoa of Attalos

Metro, Stoa of Attalos

The Ancient Agora of Athens is located in the city centre. It can be easily reached using the Attiko Metro (the next stop is Monastiraki).

The renewed Stoa of Attalos houses the Museum of Ancient Agora. This exceptional stoa was built by Attalos (Attalus) II, king of Pergamos. This ancient warehouse is 116 meters long and had 42 shops. The stoa was used from its construction in around 150 B.C. until its destruction at the hands of the Herulians in A.D. 267.
